The 2019 Emmys were a bit lackluster in design, without a host and accompanied by the weird theme of “The Masked Singer” the show was a little off. What was completely on were the awards given to the diverse talent we are finally starting to see in Hollywood. Billy Porter is the first openly gay black man to receive the award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Anthony Mackie revealed over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con that he’s already tried on his Captain America suit. Filming for the Disney+ limited six-part series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier begins October 2019 so the costume department had a fitting for the suit Mackie will wear in the show. Derek Kolstad, creator of John Wick, and Malcolm Spellman, most well known for his work on Empire, are writing the show which is slated for release in the fall of 2020.
