Los Angeles – Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst is suing 10 Web site operators who the rocker claims profited from posting an explicit video stolen from his home computer showing him having sex with a former girlfriend. The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks more than $70 million in damages and any profits reaped by the Web site operators in recent weeks, when the 3-minute clip began appearing on the Internet. New York – On the day nominations for the music industry’s highest honors were announced, nobody could find Killswitch Engage. Most of the members were asleep after headlining a concert the night before, pumping out ear-shattering music and screeching lyrics for a tiny audience. The Island Def Jam Music Group has signed multi-platinum recording artist, Everlast, it was announced today. Everlast is currently in the studio working on his third studio album (Title: TBD) tentatively set for an early 2004 release. Nickelback’s record label has released a statement explaining why it wouldn’t let Chad Kroeger appear on the new Santana single, even though he’s on Santana’s album. Kroeger wrote and sang on “Why Don’t You & I” for Santana’s Shaman, which appeared on Arista Records. But when it came time to release the song as a single, Roadrunner Records nixed Kroeger’s participation, and Santana-at Kroeger’s recommendation-replaced him with Alex Band from the group the Calling. The Murderdolls, featuring Slipknot’s Joey Jordison and Static X’s Tripp Eisen, will preview songs from their upcoming album, Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls, with a series of shows in late July and early August. The group has 10 shows on the itinerary beginning July 30 in San Diego. Having a song on the successful “Spider-Man” soundtrack hasn’t gone to Corey Taylor’s head. Actually, “Bother” has deflated the Slipknot frontman’s ego… or superego, as it were. Taylor has forgone using Superego as the moniker for his now-unnamed side project, who hope to release their debut in late summer or early fall, according to a Roadrunner Records spokesperson. Taylor’s Slipknot bandmate Jim Root (guitar) joins him in the endeavor, as do two members of their previous band, Stone Sour, and an acquaintance from the group’s hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. Songstress Sheryl Crow is on track to be the highest debut performance when the latest pop album charts are released Wednesday, challenging reigning Universal Music labelmate Ashanti for the top spot.
