Just two weeks after Kanye West and Lady Gaga announced their full slate of “Fame Kills” dates, the tour has been canceled. No official reason has been given for the cancellation, but ticket refunds will be available. After the backlash surrounding Kanye’s outburst during Taylor Swift’s VMAs acceptance speech, the tour was rumored to be embattled. Now official confirmation of the cancellation comes from concert promoters Live Nation. But Gaga isn’t letting this slow down her collaborations with rappers. Just yesterday, she hinted at the possibility of recording with Dr. Dre.
Leave it to Kanye West to make headlines in the most unusual way — and he did, as he hijacked Taylor Swift’s speech at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Swift was in mid-acceptance speech for Best Female Video when West rushed onstage, grabbed her microphone and went on an outburst on behalf of Beyonce Knowles, who had lost out in that category. At the end though, a classy move by Beyonce, the night’s top winner, who brought Swift onstage and gave her an uninterrupted moment in the spotlight. “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV… Read more »
Kanye West might not be able to tell you the complete background of one of his newer artists, Big Sean, but he can see his guy’s future. Sean may be the next mainstream hip-hop star coming out of Detroit. “He put out mixtapes… His story for me was I heard him rap, he killed it and he got signed,” West said. One cannot script Sean’s introduction to West any better. Sean took a page right out of fellow Detroit native Eminem’s handbook and lost himself in the moment. When he was alerted by a friend that West would be at… Read more »
Pink has attacked Kanye West for his views on fur. The songstress says she was at Stella McCartney’s Paris fashion show in January sitting alongside the vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and Paul McCartney when the rapper, also sitting in the same area, started complaining that more of the clothes needed fur. “Kanye West is the person p*ssing me off right now,” she said. “He just wouldn’t shut up about how he loved fur. I mean, he’s saying this to me, the PETA guy and Paul McCartney! I was just so grossed out by… Read more »
Kanye West appeared on ABC’s “The View” Wednesday and took the opportunity to announce his forthcoming co-headlining tour with disco queen Lady Gaga. Although he kept the details of the tour light, he spoke excitedly about it. In the past he has said he is a Gaga fan and recently reworked her hit “Poker Face” into “I Make Her Say,” a collaboration with up-and-coming MC Kid Cudi. “She’s talented and so incredible that she’s not an opening act,” he said of the tour. “We’re doing it together, with no opening act.” A representative for West did not provided further details… Read more »
Kanye West is back in the lab, and there’s only word to describe his new rhymes: “awes-mazing” (that’s supposedly a cross between awesome and amazing). “I kill that rap sh–, that’s what I do,” West said of his upcoming opus. “Lyrics right now, they’re awes-mazing. They’re basically untouchable. I’m about to take it to a whole ‘nother level. I’d be scared if I was not me.” Kanye said he is always making an album, because he comes up with lyrics just by having conversations with people. He still does not write his rhymes down and has not in six years.… Read more »
Kanye West and his Caps Lock button were back in action on the rapper’s blog yesterday in a post about the role of celebrity photographers. Just days after pleading not guilty to charges of assaulting a TMZ photographer, West applauded the skills of one paparazzo and compared some of music’s biggest names with superstars of another era in an effort to prove a point. Kanye was inspired by a candid photo of Rihanna, the muse of his new 808s & Heartbreak video “Paranoid,” as she was stepping into a yellow cab in New York City. “ Yo why can’t all… Read more »
LOS ANGELES — Kanye West has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from a scuffle with a paparazzo last year. Los Angeles City Attorney’s spokesman Nick Velasquez says West entered the plea through his attorney on Friday. The 31-year-old was not in court. City prosecutors charged the rapper with misdemeanor battery, grand theft and vandalism. West was arrested on Sept. 11 after an incident in which he was shown breaking a paparazzo’s camera flash at Los Angeles International Airport. West’s attorney, Blair Berk, declined to comment on the plea. The next scheduled hearing in the case is July 15.
