Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong didn’t take kindly to the news that their set time at the I Heart Radio Music Festival was being cut from 45 minutes to 25 minutes to make more time for Usher’s set. Click “read more” to check out the video of his reaction.
Count Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong among those not supporting President Bush’s moves toward potential war with Iraq. The singer-guitarist is hoping to parlay his band’s popularity into a petition expressing his opinion and the opinion of others like him. Speaking on his band’s official website (greenday.com), Armstrong says: “For those of you who are opposed to the war in Iraq, I want to set up a petition on greenday.net to send to George W. Bush strongly urging him to rethink his plans for a military invasion. This petition isn’t only for people who live in America but people… Read more »
Try as they might to display a more mature side as songwriters and lyricists, the members of Green Day – a third, fourth or maybe even fifth-generation punk band – are still working the same schtick that powered them to rock supremacy in the mid-1990s. It’s snotty and obnoxious, a blur of three- and four-chord rockers strung together in a manner that puts exclamation points after every barre chord and chorus. Thank you, Kevin, and thank you, Warped Tour, for embedding such a valuable lesson in the young man I was. I’ll keep striving to achieve my dreams because of it. MAX showed me his Hell’s Kitchen and took me on an audiovisual tour of the streets he walks everyday. Photo Credit: Graham Fielder for Alternative Press Over the course of the last week, my life has been all about the Alternative Press Music Awards 2nd year celebration. It’s been filled with good friends, new friends, old heroes that have become friends, and a lot of tequila. But, before the reunions, the hugs, and even before the tequila, I got to go to the grand opening of the Alternative Press Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Exhibit. It was the single most humbling experience of my APMAs week, and I couldn’t be more proud of the promises it… Read more » In between the raunchy humor and nudity, Blink-182 managed to make a huge impact on other bands and devoted fans. Perhaps without even knowing it – and definitely without ever really trying – Blink-182 have somehow become one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years. This might seem like a bit of a stretch. After all, aren’t these the same guys with the discography of di– jokes? The ones who gave their albums titles like “Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket?” Well, yes. But they’re also the same guys who featured Robert… Read more » Season 3, Episode 8.
