Focused on opening the dialogue around mental health, 320 Festival is going online to bring music listeners an event stacked with musicians, panels, and non-profits. In light of COVID-19, the first priority was keeping fans safe—so the festival had to be moved from its Los Angeles venue. I think it’s safe to say, “Holy shit!” In the two weeks since the last of these columns, our lives have changed beyond recognition, perhaps for the foreseeable future. Things that we took for granted, like going to the store, now take careful planning. Going to a concert, bar, or club is cancelled, for very real reasons. People are getting sick, people are dying. Our staff have spent the past few weeks arguing, digging out their old iPods, and scouring their Myspace pages to narrow their personal picks down.

After the death of an adult in Illinois officials are warning the public about the dangers of vaping. In recent months 22 states have reported 193 “vaping-related” respiratory illnesses. The C.D.C. respectfully withheld information about the patient who passed away but Robert R. Redfield, Director of the C.D.C, released a statement saying: “This tragic death in Illinois reinforces the serious risks associated with e-cigarette products. Vaping exposes users to many different substances for which we have little information about related harms – including flavorings, nicotine, cannabinoids, and solvents.
