Anna Shoemaker is so back, baby! Marking her first new music of the new year, Shoemaker has dropped the mesmerizing “Back Again.” The track is the sixth single to arrive from her forthcoming sophomore record, Someone Should Stop Her, which is slated to drop on February 21, 2025, via +1 Records. You can preorder and pre-save the album here.
“‘Back Again’ is about wanting to get back together and do things the right way,” Shoemaker shares. “I love the ending where I just repeat over and over ‘we’re gonna get it right, we’re gonna get it right, we’re gonna get it right’ because it almost felt like a manifestation or prayer in that moment while writing it. Sometimes you want it to work so bad you have to trick yourself into thinking it will.”
“Back Again” will be featured on Shoemaker’s 12-track full-length album, and was proceeded by the release of “Holly,” “Fields,” “Game Of Thrones,” “Iced Coffee,” and “Close To The Sun.”
When announcing the album release in October 2024, Shoemaker shared on Instagram, “Constantine and I wrote this album in Long Island and then drove down to Nashville to record at our friend John’s studio. We actually ended up rewriting a lot of it in Nashville— I think once we got in the car to drive down there we were like, “holy shit holy shit we are uprooting our lives to make this— it better be absolutely exactly what we want it to be”. I can say on my end that this album is indeed exactly everything I wanted and needed it to be. I can’t wait for you to hear it. from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for listening, I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
