We Came As Romans just set off for their Australian tour. But surely never thought they would be involved in a robbery. But especially when that robbery was as strange and dramatic as this. The band had just wrapped up the first leg of their Darkbloom tour in the US and just announced the second leg taking place later this year. This trip over to Australia is their first time in eight years and includes stops in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. But whilst at the hotel in Adelaide following their first show, something unexpected and pretty scary. happened.
As reported by Adelaide’s 7News, guitarist Josh Moore was followed into his room by a stranger. That stranger then grabbed some of his belongings, including his passport. But in realising that he had nowhere to go after barricading Josh outside of it, then proceeded to leap out the window of the room. That room was on the 5th floor. Josh commented, “We looked out of the balcony and saw a guy on the ground, like bloody and stuff. And so we ran down.”

The robber somehow survived the fall and was even conscious and breathing enough to try and get some help. Drummer David Puckett added, “He was on the phone with the medics at the time to tell them where his location was, so they could come, I’m assuming, to pick him up and get him care. But also get him out of here before he got caught.” The man arrived at the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries, and police found Josh’s passport in his pocket.
Despite the drama and being put in a horrible position, the band remained civil and sent their wishes to the man. Bassist Andy Glass told 7News, “I just hope he’s alright. He fell from five stories, which is insane.”
We’re just glad that the band are safe and unharmed and that their possessions have been returned. Being on the other side of the world is scary enough without having to deal with intruders and potential fatalities.
We Came As Romans will hit the road across the US again this Fall with support coming from Emmure, Bodysnatcher and Archetypes Collide. It’s going to be a bit celebration of heavy music. Here are all the dates.
