Hello and welcome to Singles Lost in Time, where we dig through our library here at idobi (like monks sifting through historical texts) and we dust off some absolute bangers that never got their proper time in the sun.

Texas Is The Reason – “Back And To The Left”
–
One of the emo progenitors, Texas Is The Reason still rock as hard as the punks from which they were born. The lyrics may be more reflective but the passion and instrumentation are still as raw and raucous. “Back And To The Left” is a great example of the band striving to break away from the machismo endemic to hardcore and punk of the time. Both meditative and invigorating, “Back And To The Left” is comfortable on almost any playlist.

Alesana – “Ambrosia”
Greek mythology has offered numerous artists a creative launching point. Alesana’s sophomore album On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, featuring the single “Ambrosia”, dresses the skeleton of these familiar myths with the muscle of post-hardcore screamo. Call-and-response screamed vocals and hardcore hooks make Alesana’s live shows an enjoyable and turbulent experience. Scuttlebutt: I heard if you spend long enough in Alesana’s pit, you’ll turn into a Golden Greek God or Goddess.
