This week, we heard singles from a plethora of acts, including Koyo and LUNA KILLS, a fresh EP from Mouth Culture, and a deluxe album from Dark Devine. Check it all out below.
rosecoloredworld — “all we had”
For fans of lying under the stars contemplating the universe.
Following their signing to Velocity Records, rosecoloredworld dropped their latest single, “all we had.” What originally began as a journal entry became a moving track built on smooth riffs and poignant lyricism.“Writing it was a way to cope with learning how to be happy where you currently are while still desiring more,” the band says. rosecoloredworld hit the road with Not My Weekend this fall. Koyo — “Ten Digits Away (Deluxe)”
For fans of those moments in movies when the two main characters break up and walk away but pause to take one final look back.
Koyo released an acoustic reimagining of their 2022 track “Ten Digits Away.” Where the original features the group’s signature rock sound, the latest version strips it back to an emotive core. ”Ten Digits Away (Deluxe)” will be featured on the group’s upcoming EP Mile A Minute, out November 12 via Pure Noise Records. The band will be touring with The Story So Far, Four Year Strong, and more this fall and winter. Check out where they’re headed and grab your tickets here.
LUNA KILLS — “slay ur enemies”
For fans of tearing through the darkness with fire and vengeance.
Alongside their signing to Sharptone Records, LUNA KILLS dropped “slay ur enemies,” an introspective heavy hitter filled with metal riffs. “[The song] describes an inner dialogue and feelings during a panic attack,” lead vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen shares. “Mostly, the lyrics depict the hopelessness of those emotions, but also the will to fight and endure and survive this absolute nightmare.”
Wicca Phase Springs Eternal — “I Know The Raven”
For fans of standing still in the woods, feeling it breathe around you.
Wicca Phase Springs Eternal (Adam McIlwee) shared his latest single and music video with “I Know The Raven.” ”This song is about silent reflection and observing the magic in natural places,” he says. “The river’s tide, the wind through the trees, and the movement patterns of animals.” The track will be included in his upcoming EP Midnight at the Castle Moorlands, due out October 25 via Run For Cover Records.
Teddy Swims — “Bad Dreams”
For fans of midnight strolls through downtown when there’s a slight drizzle.
Teddy Swims announced the continuation of his last album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2.) His most recent single, “Bad Dreams,” will be included on the tracklist. Northvale — “Already Dead” featuring AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer
For fans of 0:35 through 0:54 of “In Violet” by Grayscale.
Northvale teamed up with AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer for “Already Dead.” Through ringing guitar hits, the group tackles pressures from religious institutions and societal standards. “Our collaboration with AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer was almost predestined,” says vocalist Keith Karol. “Having previously worked with him on ‘High Tide,’ we envisioned his involvement from the early stages of writing. AJ’s unique voice and energy have profoundly enhanced the track, making it a standout piece in our repertoire.”
ALT BLK ERA — “Come On Outside”
For fans of that one guitar riff in “The Red” from Chevelle.
ALT BLK ERA released their latest single, “Come On Outside.” Chaya Beckett-Messam dedicated the track to her sister and fellow bandmate Nyrobi as she continues to overcome a chronic illness. “We want our listeners to feel that they have a sister in us,” Nyrobi says. “Who is offering them the exact same warmth, love, and gentle encouragement that I got from Chaya when I was at my most vulnerable.” The track will be included on their upcoming debut album Rave Immortal. It drops on January 10, 2025, and is available to preorder via Earache Records.
Like Moths To Flames — “Soul Exchange”
For fans of B-side tracks that hit just as hard as the original release.
Like Moths To Flames dropped their latest single and music video, “Soul Exchange.” Speaking about the track, vocalist Chris Roetter says it didn’t quite fit in with their previous album, The Cycles Of Trying To Cope. “The song is an encapsulation of my experience and relationship with my career,” he shares “The struggles of writing and feeling like it hits no one. The feeling of falling on deaf ears, being unheard.” The band will be supporting The Devil Wears Prada on tour this fall alongside SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Greyhaven, and Silent Planet. Cheekface & Jeff Rosenstock — “Flies”
For fans of not forgetting your insect repellant when going on a picnic.
Cheekface released their music video for “Flies,” where Jeff Rosenstock can be heard offering his talent on the baritone saxophone. The track got its name after vocalist and guitarist Greg Katz and bassist Amanda Tannen wrote it in a practice room full of flies. The group currently has all of their previous albums available for vinyl pre-order, with an anticipated shipment date of November 29. Check out the records and their other merch here.
ratbag — “pinky girl”
For fans of seeing their friends breakup with terrible partners.
Following the release of “pinky boy” in August, ratbag calls out bummer boyfriends with “pinky girl.” Backed by horns, bells and strings, the singer remarks on men in heterosexual relationships who don’t even do the bare minimum. “Half the time men are oblivious to how great their girlfriends are,” ratbag says. “Sometimes when I see half-decent men with their really cool girlfriends, I just wanna shake them and force their eyelids open.”
Dark Devine — “Cold (Cinematic)”
For fans of dramatic movement pieces where the dancers are constantly pulled apart.
Dark Devine dropped a cinematic version of “Cold,” featured on the deluxe version of Deadly Fun. Just as vocally haunting as its predecessor, the track is driven by lilting piano progressions and echoing instrumentals. The deluxe LP is available now via Thriller Records. Dark Devine will be performing on night two of Apocolypse Fest, November 1, supporting Motionless In White alongside Fit For A King, Kublai Khan TX, and Scene Queen. Tickets are available here.
Mouth Culture — “No Shame”
For fans of those who rehearse their fights and arguments in the shower, but then actually follow through.
With the release of their latest EP Whatever The Weather, Mouth Culture also shared the music video for “No Shame.” “Everyone’s got that friend who has a few and then says way more than they should,” the band says. “Some people go through life being that friend. It felt good to vent about it over an instrumental that was inspired by seminal bands like Refused.” Mouth Culture have several back-to-back runs in Europe this fall, including several headline shows and a tour with You Me At Six.
