There is no better band to cover the iconic Freaky Friday track, “Take Me Away” than Meet Me At The Altar. Three incredibly badass women unleashing a fiery new rendition of a song that won all of our emo hearts back in 2003 is exactly what we needed today. It has been exactly twenty years since we were graced with the song in such a memorable and influential film, and now we can appreciate a younger generation taking an absolutely banging new stab at it. Meet Me @ The Altar also gave fans a sick and grungy visual to accompany the song.
Speaking on their choice to cover the song, the band shared: “Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, ‘Take Me Away,’ Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up. It’s everything we love all meshed into one – female representation in punk music, and on screen! Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.”
Meet Me @ The Altar is set to support 5 Seconds Of Summer on their upcoming tour kicking off later this month. Check out the dates below!
