Hometruths have just released their brand new track, which premiered via idobi Radio no less! It’s their second single of the year, following on from the self-deprecation of “Loser“, which arrived back in February. A celebration of the pop-punk of yesteryear, channelling the likes of Simple Plan and Sum 41, it showcased how the UK scene is alive and well. Though Hometruths have been proving that since 2018. Their discography is a plethora of tracks for stage dives and high fives. 2023 has just seen them refining their palette and finely tuning their sound to something that is uniquely them.
That’s where “Good Days Bad Days” comes in. From the outrageously catchy hook that kicks things off through to the bright and breezy instrumentation, it is designed to get lodged in your head. There’s more self-deprecation to be had within the song, but there is also an acceptance of things too. That life ebbs and flows between wonderful and woeful, and that’s just the way it is. We can’t control it or change it, we just have to ride the wave and enjoy the flow. It’s an anthem fitting for the modern day, where we have no idea what is around the corner. All we can do is our very best to make it through.

And then there is the video, which we are also exclusively premiering right here and right now. It begins with the slogan “Hometruths Presents Good Days Bad Days In The Form Of A Shitty Pop-Punk Video”. The tongue is firmly planted in the cheek. Showcasing the band playing their instruments from various angles as well as footage of them enjoying themselves out and about, it’s everything you could ever want. Incorporating their talents with their friendship, it is as quintessential as it gets.
Vocalist James William had this to say about the song and the accompanying video:
Good Days is the first song from our debut album. A debut album is a huge deal for small bands, committing to your sound, your vibe and your genre. We wrote around 40 songs for the album. Good Days was written in my living room at 4 a.m., a melody I just couldn’t get out of my head and lyrics that just spoke to me. Life is full of good days and bad days, we prefer to focus on the good days and spread upbeat vibes to anyone who hears our band.
“When we planned a visual for Good Days, we wanted to take it back to our youth – beach days, arcades, long summer days with friends. So we did exactly that, went to the beach with no script and just lived in that moment. Everything you see is truly just 5 friends enjoying life together. Good Days sets the tone for the album. We’re going to give you a full length of bouncy, catchy upbeat songs with the occasional surprise.”
