Amyl And The Sniffers just dropped not one, but two new singles today, May 21: “U Should Not Be Doing That” and “Facts.” This marks their first release since their 2021 LP Comfort To Me.
“U Should Not Be Doing That” is also accompanied by a vibrant music video, glitzy punk-rock guitar lines, and empowering lyrics. “I’m working on my worth/I’m working on my work/I’m working on who I am/I’m working on what is wrong what is right and where I am/I know my worth, I’m not the worst you told me once I was,” Amy Taylor sings. Check out the new track below.
“‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ makes me laugh, but it’s also in a way poking fun at the shock that people still feel at a little bit of skimpy clothing, and the bitchy high school way that the music community still is (yes I’m talking to you random 40-year-old metalheads sitting around a table doing lines and bitching about a 28-year-old chick in a band for wearing shorts and ‘selling out’) but it mainly makes me laugh,” Taylor says. “It’s unconscious and meant nothing at the time of writing it but now I think it’s a comedic way of rubbing the dog’s nose in its own dog piss after it wee’d on your favorite rug or something.”
Amyl and The Sniffers will be rocking stages all summer long, with headlining shows supported by Lambrini Girls. Plus, the band will be offering support to the likes of Foo Fighters and Sleater-Kinney. Grab your tickets here.
