With day jobs as lucrative and busy as Hollywood demands, it’s a wonder that Michael and Kevin Bacon have time to create music together at all. But what becomes clear when speaking to The Bacon Brothers, is that family has always come first.
Elder Brother (Daybreaker vocalist Dan Rose and The Story So Far guitarist/vocalist Kevin Geyer) released a surprise EP, Wish You Were Here, through Pure Noise Records. The record contains four tracks all titled, “Wish You Were Here,” including an original and three covers by Get Up Kids, Ryan Adams, and Pink Floyd.
After releasing their fantastic debut full-length earlier this year, Elder Brother—consisting of Kevin Geyer (The Story So Far) and Dan Rose (Daybreaker)—have constantly been out playing shows across the country. idobi writer Catherine Yi caught up with Dan during their brief west coast winter tour to discuss why bands should never break up, that one weird song on the record (you know which one I’m talking about), the best albums of 2014, and more.
He had one of the biggest opening sales weeks of 2008, and now, Lil Wayne is the year’s most-nominated Grammy contender. Wayne and his latest LP, “Tha Carter III,” lead the pack with a total of eight nominations, while one of the year’s other biggest sellers, Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends,” garnered seven nods. Lance Bass wouldn’t mind dancing with a man on a reality competition show, but he doesn’t think ABC’s Dancing With the Stars is the right place for fancy same-sex footwork. “I think it would be so silly that it would just overshadow everything else going on,” Bass tells me. “It would just be like making fun of something. But if it was another show with all guys dancing and all girls dancing, that’s a different story.
