On November 25, Chicago got an honorary new street: Steve Albini Way. In May, the iconic producer passed at 61 years old. The Pixies took the stage at the Isle of Wight festival last night, marking its first gig since wrapping up its 2004 reunion tour and its subsequent festival gigs in 2007. Pixies Wrap Reunion Tour, Prep DVDs


New York – The Pixies wrapped their reunion tour Saturday with two shows at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, capping a trek that lasted nearly eight months and saw them play to sold-out audiences across the world. While it’s unclear if the influential alt-rock band plans to attempt a follow-up to its last studio album, 1991’s “Trompe le Monde,” which came out a year before it went on hiatus, there is new product on the way. Pixies Reunion Shows Sell Out Immediately


Confirming that interest in the Pixies’ music has not waned since the band’s 1993 demise, 11 of the 12 shows scheduled for the group’s impending reunion tour sold out within minutes over the weekend. At the 1,600-seat Prairieland venue in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, capacity has been doubled to accommodate additional fans. “The demand has been so great,” Prairieland events manager Carl Schlosser told Billboard.com. “We are the largest venue, so we’ll be that overflow for fans who may have been shut out in other cities.” Tickets for the 12th show on April 29 in Davis, Calif., go on sale March 1.… Read more »
