Foo Fighters Do Cheap Trick A Solid In Salt Lake City

Although the identity of the surprise middle act, Stacked Actors, had already leaked throughout a lean crowd of 200 at the Mountain Dew Ice Village in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday (Feb. 9), its frontman nevertheless made a point to properly introduce his band. “We’re not really called Stacked Actors,” announced Dave Grohl. “We’re Foo Fighters.” (“Stacked Actors,” of course is the title of a Foo Fighters song on There Is Nothing Left to Lose, which is allegedly about Courtney Love). Rick Nielsen & Sons

The Rockstar Dad Show is inviting a rockstar family to the air this week! Listen in as Rick, Miles, and Daxx Nielsen join Jaret and Gary for a conversation.

As the lead guitarist of Cheap Trick, Rick Nielsen has lived an interesting life and his sons have followed in his footsteps with their own careers in music. Daxx is a drummer who’s played with many bands over the years, including with Cheap Trick. Miles is the frontman of a band called Mike Nielsen and The Rusted Hearts (more on that in a bit).

When the group calls in they look back at their history both personal and professional, from stories about Guns n’ Roses to family dynamics while touring. They also chat about The Nielsen Trust, quarantining with kids, being versatile with your music and more. Tune in and make sure you stick around until the end to hear “Hands Up” by Miles’s band!

Green Day ditches punk on 'Breakdown'

Green Day has been delivering power-punk to the mainstream  since Billie Joe Armstrong clutched a monkey in “Longview” nearly 15 years ago.   The trio has done it all with one foot firmly entrenched in its hometown East Bay punk scene, stating its allegiance to gutter punks and Gilman Street at every possible chance. It’s been both a blessing and a curse, eternally indebted to the past, but inching ever closer to the future. With the reigning punk royalty out of the picture the past couple years, the number of punk releases declined sharply. Anyone hoping Green Day would bring… Read more »
