Picture this: It’s a humid 90 degrees and you’re on a rooftop in New York City with 3000 other people. On one side is the Manhattan skyline; on the other Brooklyn. Everyone is turned toward a stage—the Brooklyn Bridge visible just behind it. On it, a band dressed in pink stands. One of the members holds up a sign that says “We Are All the Same” and the crowd screams. Welcome to Sad Summer Fest 2019, the tour of your dreams that will undoubtedly replace the Warped-size hole in your heart. Outside NYC’s Pier 17—a fantastic venue with a couple… Read more »
All the face change apps are a laugh. Can’t knock a good bunny ear, sprinkly star, funny voice, smushy face, weirdo whatever photo-alter app. It’s all in good fun, right? But what exactly are we signing away when we agree to the “terms of use”. Well, if you’re using FaceApp, the oh so popular photo-aging app, you’re signing away A LOT. The terms of use for FaceApp are pretty daunting. “You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your… Read more »
Yesterday, Netflix announced that the graphic suicide scene from the Season 1 finale of their 13 Reasons Why series has been removed. While the effort is a nice gesture, the show is still problematic at its core and no gesture can fix it. When the 13 Reasons Why adaptation was brought to my attention—shortly after premiering on Netflix—I was curious. I care deeply about the issue of mental illness. Having lost a loved one to suicide, I wondered how Netflix would handle the translation of the book of the same name. The story chronicles the whirlwind of peer abuse affecting,… Read more »

Teenage Dora enters high school with her cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg) and together with her best friend Boots (voiced by Danny Trejo) and schoolmates, they go on a… Read more »
Jeremy Renner is best known as an actor, he portrays MCU’s Hawkeye but I have a sneaking suspicion his first love was music. He dropped a single Friday, June 28th called “Heaven Don’t Have A Name” and all around the internet, there are claims of people being “confused”. “Why did he release a song?” “Where’s the context?” “The name doesn’t make sense”. Everybody just needs to calm down, and take it easy – It’s not that deep. He’s an actor and he’s a musician, it’s a common combination. He’s a talented singer and the new single is a strong musical… Read more »
