The Ready Set, brainchild of Fort Wayne, Ind.’s Jordan Witzigreuter is a one-man alternative pop band influenced by life, love and music. At 19, Witzigreuter, a recent high school graduate, is a jack of all trades; drummer, singer and keyboardist ready to lay his claim in the music world. Using the moniker The Ready Set, young Witzigreuter writes and records all his own music. Picking up his first drum sticks while in the fifth grade, by the time Witzigreuter was 14 he was a member of multiple bands, but it didn’t take long before he realized that what he really… Read more »

All Virgin Megastores set to close

Last week’s news that Virgin Megastores in New York’s Union Square and San Francisco were closing was evidently the tip of a very sharp iceberg. Billboard reports today that the multi-media chain’s only three remaining stores in Denver, Orlando and Los Angeles will also be shuttered by this summer. In a move that almost predicated the closures of the Virgin chain, Virgin Entertainment Group North America was acquired by a pair of real estate companies in 2007, Vornado and Related Cos., mostly because those companies were interested in Virgin’s prime locations. The music stores were paying well below-market value per-square-foot… Read more »

Rock band Interpol recharges for summer festivals

New York rock band Interpol will return to duty this summer for a run of European and North American festival dates, beginning July 3 in Norway. The trek will likely be the last in support of the band’s 2007 album, “Our Love To Admire,” before it gets busy on its next album. The only North American date confirmed so far is the Pemberton Festival in British Columbia on July 26. “We didn’t really do much of the summer festivals last year,” drummer Sam Fogarino told Billboard.com. “It will be the last hit-it-home, end-on-a-good note.” The new album, its first for… Read more »

After Velvet Revolver wraps a spring tour in support of its second album, “Libertad,” frontman Scott Weiland will rejoin his former bandmates in Stone Temple Pilots for a handful of summer reunion shows, guitarist Slash told Billboard.com. STP broke up in late 2002; the band’s last album was the previous year’s “Shangri-La Dee Da.” No other details have yet been revealed about STP’s plans. In the meantime, Weiland and his Velvet Revolver bandmates are still plugging away in support of “Libertad” with dates that run through early April. A deal is almost set for David Lee Roth to return to the Van Halen fold for a summer tour of amphitheaters, sources told Billboard.com. Foo Fighters, Good Charlotte Usher In Summer Concert Season

Baltimore – If you find yourself surrounded by 40,000 fans, 40 bands, three stages and 85 degrees, you’ve apparently waded chest-deep into the summer concert season. For years, folks east of the Mississippi have welcomed the start of that season at the HFStival, now staged in Baltimore after thriving for 15 years as a Washington, D.C., staple. Quite a bit’s changed since WHFS-FM started ushering in the arrival of summer – most notably the station itself, which disappeared from the dial earlier this year. It has since resurfaced as an online entity and also takes over Baltimore’s Live 105.7 on… Read more »

Staind And 3 Doors Down Map Out Summer Trek

It’s been awhile (pardon the pun) since New England nü-metalers Staind have been around, but the band is all set to make its triumphant return to the rock forefront this summer – and in a big way. Staind’s new album, Chapter V, will be hitting stores on August 9. The band will also be joining forces with Southern rock purveyors 3 Doors Down and hard rockers Breaking Benjamin in late June kicking off a 44-date North American road trip.
