9 Things You Wouldn’t Expect To Learn About The Killers’ ‘Hot Fuss’

There aren’t many bands contending with The Killers for the widest breadth of sonic profile. Since the day that cage door opened, they’ve strayed worlds away from their grit-and-glam ethos of post-punk revival. The trek’s seen them over the washboard roads of heartland rock, through flashbangs of synth-driven pop, and the wildflower fields on the softer side of folk. And still, now 20 years removed from their Hot Fuss debut, they continue to fire off their early staples with the same love-scorned ferocity that had first lit the fuse. In celebration of the bi-decadal anniversary today, June 7, we reached… Read more »

Honey Revenge Cooks Up “Recipe For Disaster” On New Single

Marking their first new single since releasing their debut full-length album, Retrovision, last summer, Honey Revenge makes their triumphant return with “Recipe For Disaster.” “‘Recipe For Disaster’ is for the over-thinkers,” frontwoman Devin Papadol shares in a press release. “Life is full of so many “what ifs,” and it’s easy to let those questions take over and keep you from enjoying important moments. Can’t Swim Releases Straightforward Track, “No Backbone”

Sometimes you just need to be straightforward. That’s exactly what Can’t Swim accomplishes across their new song, “No Backbone.” The track taps into a quick-paced pop-punk sound while still holding onto the New Jersey acts post-hardcore instrumentation. Singer Chris LoPorto says that the single was written quickly, but the band still went back to check their work. “Once we finished it, we went back a few times to see if we should add a part or bring more instrumentation/layers to the mix, but whatever we did seemed to take away from the song rather than add to it.” He continues,… Read more »

11 Empowering, Alternative Songs To Soundtrack National Ex-Spouse Day

It seems indicative of U.S. divorce trends that we could reasonably add National Ex-Spouse Day to the calendar between the bookends of April Fool’s Day and 4/20. Lo and behold, April 14 stands as the designated date for reflection on the heels of romantic dissolution. Officially, it’s a day to assuage anger and practice forgiveness—but let’s be real here: that’s about as engaging as a rainy day lecture on the history of watching paint dry. In the interest of feeding our delusion of music being a cure-all, we’ve opted for a decidedly more “teenage angst” approach in celebrating the sanctioned… Read more »
