RZA, Blu Cantrell, City High Rock Harlem


The RZA, Res, Blu Cantrell and City High braved the rain Tuesday in Harlem to kick off MTV’s VMA Music week with a free concert in Riverbank State Park. With the rain sputtering then picking back up, Res, who has just replaced Alicia Keys on the Maxwell tour, opened things up. Linkin Park Goes Triple-Platinum


Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory has been certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association Of America for sales of 3 million copies. Meanwhile, “In The End,” the third single from Hybrid Theory, is poised to break big. The band’s first two singles, “One Step Closer” and “Crawling,” have already become staples on modern rock radio. Britney, 'NSYNC, All-Star Lineup To Record Marvin Gaye Classic


‘NSYNC, Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys and Ja Rule are among the artists who are lending their voices this week to an all-star remake of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” to benefit AIDS research. U2 frontman Bono and hip-hop/R&B producer Jermaine Dupri are organizing what Dupri has called a “We Are the World”-like project. PETA Asks Britney Not To Use Live Animals For VMA


A representative from People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) has forwarded a letter to Britney Spears asking her to refrain from using live cheetahs during the debut performance of her new single “I’m A Slave 4 U” at the MTV Video Music Awards at Lincoln Center’s Metropolitan Opera House in New York City tonight (September 6). Four days before his sixth album, The Blueprint, hits stores, Jay-Z will begin a theater tour of the U.S on September 14th in Columbus, Ohio. Joining him will be Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and other members of his Roc-A-Fella Records roster.
