Mike Herrera is the singer and songwriter for band MxPx, they’ve been one of my all time favorite punk bands since I was a teenager, I attended most of their shows in Salt Lake City in the late 90’s and throughout the early 2000’s and eventually toured with Mike and made a friendship with him, I’ve known him close to 20 years and we catch up and learn about Mike’s journey as a musician.
Gunz is super stoked to welcome back to the show the legend himself – Mike Herrera. Having grown up and taking part in a scene full of punk rock and going from basement shows to festivals, Herrera has been able to still stay relevant – continuing to put out new music and be a voice for a community. This episode I have drummer Ben Hilzinger from the band Eve 6 and he also plays drums for the band Cannons. I met him before he was in either of these bands, we kept in touch and I met him through Mike Herrera of Mxpx. Ben and I have kept in touch over the years and I learn his story of how he came to LA from Washington to make a career as a drummer.
