I spoke with John about this year’s festival – he says there will be even MORE bands announced, and addresses how the festival came about this year, the game plan behind it, going the opposite direction from an EDM focused fest, and bringing it back to the Rock.
Mod Sun have announced a winter headlining tour set for February and March of next year.
My Chemical Romance is a band that I’ve seen forever… literally since they were opening for Midtown or playing shows with Senses Fail and Reggie back in the day… I’ve been able to see them go from playing at the Troc in Philly, to headlining Madison Square Garden. The Black Parade times may be over, but the music continues on… most notably, with Frank Iero.
The Skate and Surf festival is back for the second year since its hiatus. Over the course of two days acts such as Midtown, New Found Glory and Alkaline Trio will take one of the five stages set up in Asbury Park, NJ.
Check out my informative, in-depth and energetic interview with John Nolan. It’s not professional as much as it is just straight and raw with him. We keep it real and talk about the legacy band, current tour, and much more.
Gunz sat down with John D., the creator of Skate and Surf, to discuss this year’s lineup as well as the history of the Festival. John explained how he secured a Midtown reunion, what went wrong last year, and hints at more acts to be added. He also touches base on how the venue will be set up and another upcoming tour he has planned.

2013 was the year of the reunion, with everyone from Fall Out Boy to Knapsack teaming back up with their old bandmates, whether it was for a one-off anniversary tour or a full-blown comeback. Still, even with all of those reunions, there are still a handful of bands left who we wish would bless us with one last tour or some new music. Here are the top ten bands we wish we could see a reunion from – no matter how impossible our dreams may be.
Chris Carrabba is an artist that I grew up seeing play and listening to. From the early days of Further Seems Forever, to literally him being booed on stage during early Midtown / Dashboard shows, to the Victory Drive Thru Recs. drama to seeing him at the Unplugged performance for MTV. The guy has seen it all, and continues to pursue music – this time with a different feel that is, Twin Forks. Definitely check out the interview as it’s one of my favorites. The guy is genuine, which is rare these days in the industry.
The Neighbourhood will be hitting the road this fall on a US headlining tour, bringing Lovelife and Ghost Loft with them. They’ll also be playing a short run of dates in September opening for Imagine Dragons, and for a complete list of all of the dates click “Read More.”
