Britney's New Year's Nap

Not every A-lister rang in the New Year in style. Britney Spears’ evening, for one, was quite the snoozefest. At least, that’s the official no-partying party line. The singer’s recently rehired rep, Larry Rudolph, is lashing out at reports that the star passed out–and had to be carried out–while hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas, claiming instead that the mother of two was just catching some zzz’s. “By about one o’clock she was just done, so we took her out,” Rudolph told the Associated Press. “She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep.” The… Read more »

Panic! At The Disco Promise Vulgar Video, Want Movie Music For New LP

UNIVERSAL CITY, California – If you’re Panic! at the Disco, how do you end a year in which you went from relative unknowns to one of the hottest bands on the planet? “I might get a tattoo that just says ‘2006,’ ’cause it was such a big year,” bassist Jon Walker said. “Really, just the whole year in general has been amazing to us.” So a tattoo (maybe?) and “a little time off for the holidays,” added drummer Spencer Smith. “Then we’re going to start writing a new record over the winter and hopefully we have something out next fall.”… Read more »

Famed punk club CBGB closes as New York changes

The upcoming closure of New York’s famed punk-rock club CBGB is lamented by locals as the loss of a legendary venue; for others it symbolizes another Manhattan neighborhood becoming corporate and bland. Standing underneath the club’s red awning on Thursday evening, several young musicians smoked cigarettes and bemoaned the loss of the dank, grimy club that began in 1973 and will have its last show on Sunday, featuring Patti Smith. The venue — its full name is CBGB & OMFUG, or Country Bluegrass Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers — spawned the Ramones, Talking Heads and Blondie, whose lead… Read more »

'Free' Tickets for RHCP Concert Being Sold

Las Vegas – Officials are complaining that tickets given away for a city-sponsored centennial concert by the bands the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Weezer are being sold on the Internet. “You get a couple of bums who take advantage of the situation, and what starts off as a very nice gesture… turns into a sleazy methodology of trying to make a buck from it,” Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said. The July 2 show in a parking lot near the Las Vegas Convention Center is to mark the city’s 100th anniversary. About 35,000 free tickets were quickly snapped up… Read more »

'Diddy Day' Marred by Combs' No-Show

Las Vegas – “Diddy Day” was a dud. Sean “P. Diddy” Combs was a no-show at an event scheduled Friday at the Aladdin hotel-casino. Mayor Oscar Goodman had been set to proclaim it “Diddy Day,” but plans were scrapped at the last minute when word came that the hip-hop mogul wouldn’t attend. “Due to an unfortunate miscommunication, I will not be able to make the anticipated trip to Las Vegas on April 15,” Combs said in a statement. “I am flattered the mayor saw fit to honor me with a day and hope to join him soon.” The event at… Read more »

Audioslave Say They're 'Ready For Anything' On Summer Tour

Chris Cornell, prepare to get your transcendence on. Audioslave are hitting the road in support of their upcoming second album beginning April 14 in Las Vegas, and from sound of things, opening night can’t come soon enough for Cornell. “I can just go out onstage and get lost in the music and get lost in whatever it is I am doing and it becomes transcendent, and it is kind of addictive now,” the singer said Wednesday (March 16). “With Audioslave, I’ve really started to like the road a lot. There is a certain dedication and work ethic that the band… Read more »

After taking more than a year off from performing, Coldplay returned to the stage over the weekend, headlining influential public radio station KCRW-FM’s annual A Sounds Eclectic Evening concert on Saturday at the Universal Amphitheatre and warming up the night before at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. And while Martin stumbled through the opening of “Politik” during the encore of the KCRW show, the singer more than made up for it by treating fans to five new tracks from X&Y, due June 7, and six old favorites. “When you… Read more »

New Found Glory Ready To Roll On 49-City Marathon Tour

New Found Glory are breaking up the monotony of touring… with more touring. Having already spent the majority of 2004 playing radio festivals, the Warped Tour and club dates in North America, Europe and Australia (not to mention the arenas they graced as an opener on Green Day’s tour), NFG decided that it was time that they had a headlining tour of their own… you know, since their latest album, Catalyst, came out almost one year ago. “We had really started thinking about doing a headlining tour back in the fall, but then Green Day comes knocking and says, ‘Come… Read more »
