Apple announces iTunes Match, pirate amnesty for $24.95


Apple’s new iTunes Match service will scan a user’s library of songs, including those ripped from their own CDs, and match the songs up with the library of 18 million songs available through iTunes for $24.99 per year.

Lady Gaga sale a $3.2M ad campaign for Amazon Cloud Player


Christmas came early for Lady Gaga fans this week, as Amazon sold downloads of the singer’s brand-new LP, “Born This Way,” for just 99 cents on Monday and Thursday of this week.

Industry sources told Billboard on Friday that Amazon sold some 440,000 downloads of the album – nearly all of which were the 99-cent version. Billboard will include the count normally for their weekly Billboard 200 chart.

Leighton Antelman talks Lydia reunion and new project


Lydia frontman Leighton Antelman has revealed that he will be reuniting with drummer Craig Taylor to record a new full length album this summer. The band have been on hiatus since May of 2010, but Antelman explained in a statement to Alternative Press that he was eager to get the break over with.

Warner Music being sold for $1.3B


Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries is buying Warner Music Group Corp., the world’s third-largest recording company, for about $1.3 billion.
The companies said Friday that the purchase, for $8.25 a share, will include the assumption of about $1.9 billion in debt.
