Interview: Mark Glick of Andrew Jackson Jihad


Andrew Jackson Jihad just wrapped up the last leg of their tour with Hard Girls and Dogbreth, bringing their folk punk sound across the country in support of their new album, Christmas Island. idobi writer Alyssa Dempsey had the lovely opportunity to speak with cellist Mark Glick before the band’s show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. Read below for their conversation on the fans’ reaction to the new album, the band’s switch to a new label, and what their moms think of their songs.

The Parent Swap Pt. 1


It’s a struggle most of us have experienced with our families, at least to some degree — the parents think the kids’ music is unlistenable garbage, and the kids think their parents’ music was recorded by the first dinosaurs to ever hold guitars. But when you find those rare few bands that occupy the middle ground between everyone’s tastes, it’s a special moment that brings the family together way better than getting a pet fish ever could.

The Neighbourhood release new song


It seems that The Neighbourhood were feeling the Christmas spirit this holiday season as they gave away two remix tracks for free, followed by a brand new track titled “Unfair.” You can stream the song and download it for free below. It’s part of their release  #000000 & #FFFFFF  (which means black and white, respectively) that also features another new track called “Silver” that saw its premiere on BBC Radio 1 a couple weeks back. “Unfair” is a mostly instrumental track but it’s the same dark, sultry sort of sound we’ve come to know and love from the band.
