Pete Wentz Sorta Stale in Recycled Costume

This is Pete Wentz copying the Jonas Brothers who copied the Beastie Boys with a fake mustache, bad wig and big, vintage glasses, because it really never gets old. At least he isn’t a cop–just a doughnut delivery boy. After a long, dark journey into Fall Out Boy message board fanland, we learned this cute new look was all some viral marketing ploy for FOB’s new album, set to drop Nov. 4. Under the name Fresh Only Bakery (OMG, those are the same initials as the band!), the boys handed out some free doughnut boxes full of T-shirts, CDs and… Read more »

RIP, TRL: MTV Slamming the Brakes this November

Start the countdown clock on MTV’s countdown era: “Total Request Live” will soon shut down after 10 years on the air. The music video show will conclude in a two-hour special on a Saturday afternoon in November, Dave Sirulnick, executive producer of “TRL,” said Monday. He stressed that the show wasn’t ending for good, but felt now was the right time to give it a break after an unprecedented run on the cable music channel. “We want to close this era of `TRL’ in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number,” Sirulnick said. “And 10 is the… Read more »

The Jonas Brothers invade NYC

Quiet time is a rarity for the Jonas Brothers these days. Following a special performance for more than 500 screaming tween and teen girls at Apple’s downtown Manhattan store on Tuesday night, the brothers – Kevin, 20, Joe, 18, and Nick, 15 – huddled in a stairwell, trying to find a quiet space to conduct an interview with The Associated Press. Good luck with that. Even as they spoke, their words were almost drowned out by deafening, doglike shrieks from girls still trying to find a way to get at their idols, who have set off a boy-band pop craze… Read more »

Ashlee Simpson And Pete Wentz Get Married

Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz got married Saturday night (May 17) in an intimate ceremony. “We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends,” the spokesperson told the mag on Saturday, when the couple reportedly exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents’ Los Angeles-area home. People’s report also apparently confirmed Ashlee’s long-rumored pregnancy, stating Simpson is “pregnant with the couple’s first child.” Although Wentz told MTV News via e-mail, “Blah, I got nothing,” when asked if he were getting married this… Read more »

Hit The Panic Button

AFTER SPENDING two years on the road promoting their debut album, 2005’s “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out,” the members of Panic at the Disco focused on two new efforts. The first was recording a new disc. The second? “We’ve been playing a lot of hacky sack and getting really good at it,” bassist Jon Walker said with a laugh. “We’ve been bringing it back. It’s the best exercise you can ever get – and it’s fun.” Which just goes to show that even though the group, once known as Panic! at the Disco, has dropped its exclamation point, it… Read more »

Jonas Brothers poised for superstardom

The superstars-in-the-making have every day mapped out for the next 24 months. If you’re not a tween/teenage girl or don’t live in proximity to one, you may not yet be in on the phenomenon created by 20-year-old Kevin, 18-year-old Joe and 15-year-old Nick. They opened for Miley Cyrus on her fall “Hannah Montana” tour to the delight of shrieking girls everywhere. Their song, “S.O.S.,” catapulted to No.… Read more »

Can the Simpsons rise above the haters?

Between them, sisters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson have had one high-profile divorce, an embarrassing lip-synch scandal, plastic surgeries both obvious and subtle, blame for a Dallas Cowboys loss, and an impresario father looming over it all. Each shot to prominence – and up the pop charts – by taking the primrose path of MTV reality shows. Each has had shining success at selling records, followed by abject failure. And that’s just a sampling. If you’re a celeb-watcher (or football bettor), it’s juicy stuff. If you’re a Simpson sister, it’s beginning to look like a critical mass of negativity. Of late,… Read more »
