Attention fans of strawberry hair accessories: You’re about to lose Katy Perry forever. Well, actually, you’ll probably have her in your camp until about October, because that’s when she’ll begin work on the follow-up to her breakthrough “One of the Boys” album, which she pledges will be a strawberry-free affair. “I definitely want to make a follow-up pop, fun record. I’m not looking to alienate my fans, but I can’t be that grown-up Shirley Temple girl wearing the stupid strawberry in her hair all the time … because I’d kill myself or someone else would for me,” Perry laughed. “So… Read more »
Eminem is portrayed as a homosexual in a new song by the Pet Shop Boys. “The Night I Fell in Love,” from the synth-pop duo’s Release, due April 23, tells the story of a homosexual boy who falls in love with a rap star backstage at his concert and follows him to a hotel room for a “private performance.” The slow-grooving song does not reference Eminem or his Slim Shady or Marshall Mathers monikers, but the lyrics clearly spell out the star’s identity. “I said we could be secret lovers/ Just him and me,” Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant sings… Read more »
A near-capacity crowd at Key Arena greeted headliners Incubus Friday night with open arms and open eyes – and deafening, wall-vibrating screams. Thousands of hollering fans – many encased in freshly purchased T-shirts from the merch tables – couldn’t be wrong: After more than a decade in the business, and years of touring far smaller venues with middling success, the band from sleepy Calabasas, California, has most definitely arrived. But before they took to the stage, their So-Cal neighbors, Hoobastank, warmed up the Key with a thunderous half-hour set. The foursome had no problem filling up the arena with their… Read more »

In crafting the new album, Tori wanted to talk about men –… Read more »
‘NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys on the same album? No, it’s not a new edition of Now That’s What I Call Music! Both boy bands can be found on Still Standing, the forthcoming album from Full Force, the rappers/producers who worked with both pop juggernauts early in their careers. The follow-up to 1995’s Sugar on Top, scheduled for July 31 release, features a revamped version of ‘NSYNC’s “I Just Wanna Be With You” (with additional lyrics courtesy of Da Brat) and the Backstreet Boys’ “All I Have to Give.” Still Standing also contains seven new songs and a number of… Read more »
