Well, it’s official. More than a month after rumors of a Blink-182/Weezer tour started circulating, and less than a week after the All-American Rejects hinted they’d be joining the bill, we’ve finally gotten to the bottom of what’s sure to be one of the biggest rock tours of the summer. As first reported in Rolling Stone (then subsequently posted on Blink bassist/singer Mark Hoppus’ blog and confirmed by the band’s label, Interscope), Blink and Weezer will be touring together this summer, and they’re taking Fall Out Boy with them. Apple calls the iTunes, Independents Missing From European Launch

JUST days after the European launch of Apple Computers’ online music store, a chorus of customers are voicing their complaints. The lack of songs from artists on independent record labels – which account for a quarter of the UK market – has left iTunes looking like a poorly-stocked American import store, lacking local talent such as Travis and Franz Ferdinand. “Most Scottish acts are on independent labels,” says Alison Wenham, chairman and chief executive of the Association of Independent Music (AIM), which represents the majority of the UK’s indie labels. “Celtic acts typically start off very strong in their home… Read more »

All-Americans Feeling Rejected

Ever since The All-American Rejects jumped from independent label Doghouse Records to DreamWorks, the Oklahoma band has been experiencing the inevitable cries of “sell-out” from former supporters in the indie crowd. “I think a lot of people don’t respect us anymore,” reflects drummer Chris Gaylor. “When we were on Doghouse we were this cool indie-pop band and that was awesome. But when you sign to a major, you’re just some dumb boy-band pop group. I don’t see how that differs. We didn’t change any of ourselves or any of the music.” Originally issued in October of 2002, their self-titled debut… Read more »

The previously unreleased Avril song “I Don’t Give” will be featured on the disc, which comes out July 22. The track was recorded during the session for Let Go, and is about an independent girl who refuses to be played. “You know I’m not gonna cry/ About some stupid guy/ A guy who thinks he’s all that,” she sings in the chorus. The 17-song “American Wedding” soundtrack also features an unreleased… Read more »
