Notorious B.I.G.'s Family Files Wrongful-Death Lawsuit Against L.A.P.D.


The Notorious B.I.G.’s (Christopher Wallace) widow Faith Evans, his mother Voletta Wallace, his son Christopher Jr., and his daughter and her legal guardian have all joined together to file a wrongful-death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.), its current chief Bernard Parks, former chiefs Willie Williams and Bayan Lewis, and former police officer David Mack and Amir Muhammad, a man some believe was the triggerman in Notorious B.I.G.’s murder, although he was never formally charged. Music Labels, Others Band Together Against Artists


As a pop star protest against “indentured servitude” by penny pinching record companies grew to near-deafening decibel levels on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s Grammy Awards, the music industry roared back. Led by Don Henley and Sheryl Crow, the Recording Artists Coalition has been demanding changes to a California law that ties musicians longer to contracts than in other industries. Adema Prep New Songs, Mourn Loss Of Rage Against The Machine


When they finish the Projekt Revolution Tour, which also features Linkin Park, Cypress Hill and DJ Z-Trip, Adema will join Alien Ant Farm, Fenix TX, Glassjaw and others on the already-in-progress SnoCore Festival, which runs until March 30. Songwriters, Publishers File Suit Against Aimster


Music publishers and songwriters said Tuesday they had joined the growing list of media companies suing file-sharing company Aimster for copyright infringement, saying that the service is trying to fill the void left by Napster. David Cassidy Files Complaint Against Arista/BMG


In a complaint filed this morning in Los Angeles Superior Court, David Cassidy is seeking material damages in excess of $1 million, the amount to be determined at trial, as well as exemplary and punitive damages, against Bell Records, Arista Records and Bertelsmann Music Group. Cassidy claims that Arista/BMG, subsequent to merging and acquiring Bell Records, materially breached Cassidy’s recording agreement. In addition, Cassidy is claiming that Arista/BMG has breached their fiduciary duty to him as a recording artist and have improperly misappropriated his name and likeness in exploiting the albums.
