NORMY is the side project of many notable staple musicians in the punk scene. Consisting of Eric Egan (Heart Attack Man), Steve Perrino (Walking Wounded) and George Lucarelli (Highway Sniper, You Die First), the band could be categorized as a pop punk outfit. However, not the Machine Gun Kelly, Mod Sun, Lil Lotus type. They’re more in the vein of the era of Sum 41, Rise Against, and American Hi-Fi. The band is fast, loud, and full of grit. Following the release of the group’s first “happy song in the Wrist catalog,” Teenage Wrist has issued their latest effort, “Diorama.” “Diorama” showcases the duo’s signature shoegaze sound through an amalgamation of alternative rock, psychedelic synths, and heightened euphonious melodies. The track is led by a muddied, down-tuned acoustic guitar creating a somber soundscape reminiscent of 90s grunge. Lead vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Marshall Gallagher joins with a haunting vocal delivery before the track takes flight with a touch of hypnotic synths. “Diorama” is a poignant reflection on life’s complexities and the paradoxes that come with our dependence on technology.… Read more »
Following up the recent release of their deluxe edition of Baku’s Revenge, Magnolia Park have gifted fans with another brand new track. “Homicide” leans toward the more pop-infused sound the band sometimes explores in their writing. While certainly still being a pop punk banger, the track has an explosive and anthemic chorus you could hear on the radio. The band have quit the knack for crafting a catchy chorus. They’re totally in their bag with this new tune. Magnolia Park have always spread the message of inclusivity and acceptance across their music. Tracks like “Don’t Be Racist” and “Misfits” directly… Read more »
Say Anything are back together and have released a brand new track, “Psyche!” Today. They are a band that have always done things differently than everyone else. They stuck out like a sore thumb in the scene since their inception in a beautifully unique and transparently broken way. Max Bemis is a genius to say the least and you won’t find another project quite like his. Hell, their first full-length album, …Is A Real Boy, was intended to be a performative musical that transformed into a two-part melodic odyssey. With spoken word interludes, triumphant and drastic sonic changes within each… Read more »
