You Blew It! have announced their upcoming EP, titled Pioneer of Nothing. The EP will be released January 27th via Jade Tree Records. Pioneer of Nothing follows the band’s full length Keep Doing What You’re Doing, which debuted earlier this year. The band have been putting out a constant flow of music, starting with their album and followed by another album of Weezer covers released this summer and the new EP due out in January. Though the exact memory from ten years ago might be a little fuzzy, we all do remember loving every moment spent with this record. Well, who didn’t love this one, right? Everything in Transit is about as perfect as records come.
One sunny afternoon not long ago, Dick Copaken sat in a booth at Daniel, one of those hushed, exclusive restaurants on Manhattan’s Upper East Side where the waiters glide spectrally fro table to table. He was wearing a starched button-down shirt and a blue blazer. Every strand of his thinning hair was in place, and he spoke calmly and slowly, his large pink Charlie Brow head bobbing along evenly as he did. A couple of years ago, a crazed Mooney Suzuki fan bum-rushed the band during a show and squirted mustard on singer/guitarist Sammy James Jr.’s fuzz box guitar pedal. The guy was apparently pissed that the garage rockers had “sold out” and signed with tiny indie label Estrus Records for their 2000 debut, People Get Ready, so he shouted, “Why don’t you have Estrus buy you a new one!” If that’s how he felt then, things could get much uglier next year when the band releases its as-yet-untitled third album, the first under its new deal with Columbia Records.
