Reunited rock band Stone Temple Pilots will play their first concert in more than seven years at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 17, the band said Tuesday. Frontman Scott Weiland, who went on to co-found Velvet Revolver, recently entered rehab to deal with a chronic addiction. Stress runs rampant among college kids this time of year, but the Door to Dorm tour, the College Mega tour and Campus Invasion Music Festival are aiming to give students some springtime musical relief. Hinder will headline the Door to Dorm outing, which hits 17 colleges and three music festivals starting April 13 at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown, Pa. Universal Music Group said Tuesday it reached a deal to buy DreamWorks Records, the music unit of the entertainment company formed by film and music moguls Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The purchase is expected to be completed early next year, subject to regulatory approval. Universal plans to fold DreamWorks Records into its Interscope Geffen A&M label, which is run by veteran music executive Jimmy Iovine, sources said. The Black Eyed Peas will be going on tour with Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera beginning June 4 in Phoenix and finishing up in St. Paul on August 24.
