“I don’t know where you begin but it’s where I wanna end” Is there anything better than a beloved band returning after years away and delivering a no-skip album? I don’t think so—and apparently, Beach Weather agrees. Formed in 2015 and releasing two (excellent) EPs before going on hiatus in 2017, Beach Weather—Nick Santino, Reeve Powers, and Sean Silverman—re-emerged in late 2021 and now they’re officially back with their debut full-length, Pineapple Sunrise. Before we get any further, I have to confess that I’ve been a Nick Santino stan (a Stantino, if you will) since I started listening to his… Read more »
For nearly 25 years, Norma Jean has maintained their prominence in the metalcore scene with fans spanning generations and nine LPs to their name. It defies the precedent left by so many artists before them to think that Norma Jean is still touring strong behind a new record and loyal fanbase, without a single founding member left in the group. In 2002, when Norma Jean released their seminal debut LP, Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, they were already more than a decade ahead of their time with a record that foreshadowed evolutions in the genre. The band’s signature… Read more »

by Maysa After many years of photographing and attending one too many concerts, the one that still stays fresh in my mind is Turnstile’s sold-out Love Connection Tour at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL back in October 2022. I was a bit late to the game when it came to listening to their back-then latest album release Glow On—but as soon as I spinned it about a thousand times and the band dropped new tour dates, their Orlando show was the one I looked forward to attending all year. (And I was seeing Harry Styles before them…so that’s… Read more »
Black Sabbath is being honored in their hometown of Birmingham in the best way. The Birmingham Royal Ballet has created a performance totally based on the legendary band’s music. It will include classic songs including “Paranoid”, “Ironman”, “War Pigs”, and more, along with new music. According to the BBC, guitarist Tony Iommi said, “Black Sabbath have always been innovators and never been predictable, and it doesn’t come any more unpredictable than this! I’d never imagined pairing Black Sabbath with Ballet but it’s got a nice ring to it! I’ve met with Carlos several times and his enthusiasm is infectious. I… Read more »
Tonic is a mental health charity for musicians that is gaining more attention and deserves even more. Babyshambles’ Adam Ficek recently spoke to NME about why Tonic is such an important resource to have. He said, “The reason I started working with Tonic was the emphasis put on not only those struggles, but how music can also help. The industry itself is predominantly late nights, there’s an abundance of alcohol. There’s the social environment, then there’s the psychological environment of where people have come from with their own wounds and how that interacts with that.” The organization was founded in… Read more »

If you were at The 1975’s show in Manchester, we’re jealous of you. Beyond the obvious reason, the band performed their debut album. Fans in attendance had no idea it was coming and if we were there, we would have felt all the emotions. This was a more intimate show than we’ve seen from the band while they’ve been on tour in support of their new album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language. Fans got to feel up close and personal, all while listening to the songs that made them fall in love with the band in the first place.… Read more »
When the Bamboozle Festival announced its lineup for 2023, after weeks of missed announcements and snipes at fans, the reaction was decidedly mixed.
“You can be king of everything, because I’m busy being the queen of me” Us pop-punk kids have top-tier taste in music. Everything from blink-182 to Simple Plan to Paramore. We love the music that cuts deep and makes you want to get up and smash into things. We have to admit, sometimes that love for the pop side of the genre takes over. Maybe it even bleeds into a bit of country-pop. We know we have our Swifties out there in the scene. However, long before Taylor—there was Shania and, man, do we love her (just ask our very… Read more »
