There’s nothing better for a failing political system and a crumbling state of the world than punk rock—which is exactly what the Vans Warped Tour is serving up this summer.
Kelly Osbourne proved she’s every bit her father’s daughter at her first full-fledged concert on Tuesday. Any questions about her authenticity – that recording her album, Shut Up, was simply the easiest way to boost her celebrity – were wiped away soon after she emerged beneath a giant pink neon sign that read “Kelly Osbourne,” visibly moved at the enthusiastic applause. Unlike her previous live performances – at a radio-sponsored festival and a “Tonight Show” gig – on Tuesday the crowd was all hers (the “I love you, Kelly” cries might have given it away), and she grabbed the reins… Read more »

If you missed the Emo Axolotl that Build-A-Bear dropped over April Fools Day, you might be able to buy the next best thing: Zombie Axolotl. This is just one offering from the stuffed animal franchise’s new Halloween line, and yes, we’re obsessed. After teasing the drop in July, an array of cute bats, bears, and even capybaras have hit the Halloween workshop in-store and online. The Zombie Axolotl, retailing for $57.50, also comes in a mini version for $10. And we will be adding these to our bags like a Labubu. Other new Halloween offerings include the Skelebara (Skeleton Capybara)… Read more »
For Americans across the nation, this July 4th might not feel like one worth celebrating. In Trump’s first six months in office, he’s sent the military on U.S. citizens in Los Angeles. ICE arrests have broken innocent families apart, and in most cases, those being deported have no criminal record (or are actual American citizens). Countless pieces of legislation were introduced or passed that take direct aim at the LGBTQ+ community. Federal workers were laid off en masse, the genocide in Palestine rages on, and this is merely scratching the surface. Refer back, even further, to 2023 when SCOTUS overturned… Read more »

Warped Tour kicked off their massive 30 year anniversary return run this weekend in Washington, DC, bringing the iconic punk and alt-rock festival back in full force. With a large lineup that spanned across Saturday and Sunday at RFK Stadium, headlining sets included MGK and Avril Lavigne. MGK made his headlining set one to remember. Ahead of his performance, he posted a video reflecting on how surreal it felt to return to Warped Tour as a headlining act. That sentiment carried through to his performance, where he brought longtime collaborator and friend MOD SUN onstage for a surprise rendition of… Read more »
With confidence, we can say that we kinda miss 2015. Life was simpler when “Uptwon Funk” by Bruno Mars ruled the charts, selfie sticks were a common accessory to carry around music festivals (for better or for worse), and Tumblr was thriving. And we can’t forget that Fall Out Boy had returned back from hiatus at this time, too. Whether you care to admit it or not, that year precedes us by an entire decade. Time flies when FOB is an active band, ya know? Uniquely, 2015 was the release year of some of the most iconic records in the… Read more »
As the year comes to a close, and we bid “farewell” (and maybe “fuck you”) to 2024, it’s the perfect time to look back and celebrate the albums that shaped the soundtrack of the last 12 months. From deeply personal indie projects to genre-defining heavy hitters, 2024 was filled with groundbreaking releases that reminded us of the power of music and, more importantly, of the alternative community. With so much incredible work to choose from, narrowing down our favorites was a daunting task. This year, the quality and variety of music made it impossible to rank our picks—every album brought… Read more »
