Panic At The Disco Lose Two Members

Panic posted the announcement Monday (June 6) on their official site, hinting that creative differences may have caused the split between Ross, Walker and the remaining bandmembers: frontman Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith. “Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we’ve creatively evolved in different directions, which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve,” the statement read in part. “Over the years, we have remained close and honest with each other, which helped us to realize that our goals were different and that parting ways is truly what is best for… Read more »

In one of the strangest collaborations this year, Lady Gaga has recruited Marilyn Manson to contribute vocals to the remix of her dance-floor anthem “LoveGame.” As of now, Perez Hilton is streaming the hyperactive remix, and posted some photos of the pair in the studio. I thought that it looked the way that rock stars should look, as exciting as something that… Read more »

Pearl Jam confirms partnership with Target

As Internet reports suggested, Pearl Jam was indeed recording a Target commercial under the direction of Cameron Crowe last week at Seattle’s Showbox theater. But there is more to the story than an exclusive retail relationship. It has been known that Pearl Jam is no longer under contract after 18 years of recording for Sony-affiliated labels, and there has been a good deal of speculation about who would release the rock act’s next album. Kelly Curtis, who has managed Pearl Jam since its inception, conducted a wide-ranging interview Sunday night, confirming that the band’s next album — rumored to be… Read more »

Apple’s iTunes online music store may reach more customers throughout Europe after the body tasked with collecting artist royalties in France agreed to allow counterparts elsewhere to license its catalog. SACEM, which collects royalties for about 128,000 artists, said it would be willing to drop territorial restrictions and allow national counterparts to license its repertoire, European antitrust regulators said on Tuesday. If pan-European licensing becomes a reality, Apple, which controls slightly more than half of global digital music sales through iTunes, may look at broadening access to the system, European Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes added. “If iTunes was readily able… Read more »
