This week I have friend and fellow drummer Chase Vernon, when I first met him my old band did shows with his old band Super Whatevr, and we’ve been friends ever since. Since that band dissolved, he’s played for bands such as: Magic Whatever, Garzi, Royal & The Serpent, and now is currently playing drums for the band Games We Play.We talk about how he got his start, how he’s continued to get the next gig, and what it’s like being a hired drummer. We also share a rehearsal spot together, which I’m stoked about.

Charlotte Sands is never in our “blindspot,” especially not with her latest single. The 2000s-inspired, singer-songwriter alt-ballad is the latest track to preview her upcoming album can we start over?, which arrives on January 24. From there, Sands will embark on her world headline tour in March. Her previous single, “pity” is more aggressive, pointed, and rock-leaning, so this pivot to something slowed down, with longing sadness stirred into it, gives listeners a look at her versatility as an artist. It’s not FELICITY’s “Last Christmas” by any means, as they have released a cover of the Wham! classic just in time for the holidays. The single is out via Zodhiac Records and takes a grittier approach to the jolly, poppy track that the late George Michael put his mark on.
