FELICITY Get Moody With “Last Christmas” Cover

It’s not FELICITY’s “Last Christmas” by any means, as they have released a cover of the Wham! classic just in time for the holidays. The single is out via Zodhiac Records and takes a grittier approach to the jolly, poppy track that the late George Michael put his mark on.

Guitarist Drew Rapier says they wanted to put out a cover of their favorite Christmas song as a gift for their fans. “It’s one that we’ve always played acoustically at Christmas parties or for our families. We challenged ourselves to create a version of the song that is unique to FELICITY while staying true to the original and (hopefully) creating a version that listeners could enjoy year-round.”

The trash rockers don’t shy away from their original heavy riffs and screamo additions to the reworked holiday anthem.

The slow-down linking lyrics of “Remember when/Last Christmas” gives an almost menacing emotion that goes into the classic chorus about giving your love to someone, only to have them do a gift exchange for something else the next day. The breakdowns sprinkled throughout elevate the wintery staple into something that could be featured in a holiday-themed horror movie.

Fans can catch this tune live at The Emo Block Party on December 16 in Orlando, FL, along with headliners Hawthorne Heights. With an ominous tone in the track, perhaps fans will hear it on their upcoming support run in the spring with Between You & Me.
