'NSYNC, Backstreet Boys Relics Auctioned

Everything must go! One day only! If you’re in the market for some ‘NSYNC gold records, a couple of Sea Doos, 10,000 jewel cases or a LFO signed poster, then you should get down to Orlando, Florida, before the end of the day. Those items are among the thousands up for auction Tuesday (June 12) that used to belong to disgraced boy-band mogul Lou Pearlman. The items are part of a liquidation of the remaining assets of Pearlman’s once-billion-dollar Trans Continental empire – which included a jet service and management of ‘NSYNC and Backstreet Boys – that has crumbled to… Read more »

Fountains Of Wayne To Spout 26-Song Rarities Collection; Tour In June

New York power-pop combo Fountains of Wayne will give fans a musical travelogue of their near-decade together with the release of Out-of-State Plates. Due on June 28, the double-disc set contains a whopping 26 non-album tracks recorded at various stages during the band’s career. Intended to appeal to both die-hard fans and newbies snared by the hit “Stacy’s Mom,” the set is a motherlode of rarities and unreleased tracks; there are also five covers and two brand-new songs. The title might seem to continue the automotive theme that the band used on its last two albums, 1999’s Utopia Parkway and… Read more »

Good Charlotte's Joel Madden Makes 8-Year-Old Cry

Hilary Duff is, after all, your girlfriend and, yes, you should stand up for her. But did you really have to bring small children to tears? According to a report on MTV.com, Madden – Good Charlotte lead singer and Duff’s current partner in love – was at a radio station’s Christmas show in New York last Friday when he was approached by two young autograph seekers. Duff quickly pointed out the problem – one of these boys was Cody, the kid brother of her arch-nemesis Lindsay Lohan! To sign an autograph for this completely uninvolved 8-year-old child would be like… Read more »

Good Charlotte Singer Heats Up Duff/ Lohan Beef

Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden has allegedly gotten into the middle of the beef between Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff. Backstage at last Friday’s Z-100 Jingle Ball radio festival in New York, the pop-punk singer refused to give Lohan’s 8-year-old brother an autograph until she publicly apologized to Duff for their ongoing war of words, according to an eyewitness. Lohan’s brother Cody and his friend approached Madden, who had performed that evening with Good Charlotte, and asked for an autograph, the witness said. When Duff, who has been romantically linked to Madden, told him who the kids were, Madden told Cody… Read more »

BT Secretive About 'NSYNC Payback On Upcoming Album

BT is hesitant to reveal that his new album features a collaboration with JC Chasez, but not because he’s worried about ruining his dance-music credibility. “I’ve been playing it in my sets and I’m top secret about who it is, ’cause I want people to judge it on the song, not the whole ‘NSYNC affiliation,” the DJ/producer explained Friday at his home studio. “People go f–ing nuts, even my super cool friends that would never admit to [liking ‘NSYNC]. They’re like, ‘Wow, this is such a great tune.’ And I’m like, ‘It’s JC.’ And they’re like, ‘Shut the f– up,’… Read more »

Disturbed Top Billboard Albums Chart

Chicago rockers Disturbed have upset the Dixie Chicks’ three-week run as chart champs, selling more than 283,000 copies of their second album to debut atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, according to SoundScan figures released Wednesday. The riff-wielding quartet has come a long way in its short career. Disturbed’s 2000 debut, The Sickness, while eventually selling more than 2.6 million copies, took nearly two months to crack the chart after its release. What’s even more impressive is that Disturbed’s first-place showing came without an unavoidable, playlist-friendly video. The clip for the LP’s first single, “Prayer,” encountered restrictions because it was… Read more »

Joey Fatone Finds Broadway 'Exciting,' But 'A Lot Of Work'

As Justin Timberlake works on his solo album and Lance Bass prepares to go into space, Joey Fatone isn’t about to be the odd man out of ‘NSYNC. For his downtime during the boy band’s hiatus, Fatone’s broadening his acting résumé to include the Great White Way – as the lead in “Rent”. “It’s very exciting,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to do Broadway…. About a year ago I went and saw ‘Rent,’ and it was really cool, and I thought it would be a cool show to do. It’s so edgy and so based on real life. It’s something… Read more »

No Get-Hits-Quick Schemes For Tweet, Jimmy Eat World, Unwritten Law

Despite what Lil’ Bow Wow and Britney have shown us, stardom doesn’t always come before you can vote or get behind the wheel of a car. The past few years have been a boon for the high school (Aaron Carter, B2K, Lil’ Romeo) and graduation set (Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton). Even though it may have felt like it, it hasn’t been all teens all the time, though. Veteran acts such as U2, Nickelback, Creed, No Doubt, Train, Sugar Ray and R. Kelly have been banging the charts all along. And lately, singers like Tweet and rockers Unwritten Law and Jimmy… Read more »
