The Lostprophets titled their second album Start Something for two reasons. One was to motivate people out of complacency. “We spent the last three years touring and meeting loads of people who were like, ‘I’d love to do this and that,’ but they never had the drive to get up off their asses and do it,” explained singer Ian Watkins. “Start something. That’s all that needs to be said. I remember being at Drive Thru Records and we received this demo from a band called, “Something Corporate…” described as a more rockish Billy Joel.
Something Corporate’s “Watch the Sky†is a song that deserves to be turned up loud. However, when certain times call for softer songs, Sweatshirt Weather’s delicate acoustic cover is the perfect fit.
Sweatshirt Weather are going back to the basics with the recent release of their six-song acoustic EP Translations. Composed of three songs from their past EP’s, two new tracks, and a Something Corporate cover, the EP is a calculated combination of regression and advancement.
