Veteran record executive Clive Davis, whose ouster from Bertelsmann AG’s Arista caused an uproar two years ago, returned to the fold on Tuesday by selling his half of J Records to the company and taking the helm of a combined label group. Maverick Records and Atlantic Records, two labels owned by AOL Time Warner Inc., said Monday they have cut more than 30 jobs combined over the past week. A spokesman for Warner Music said there had been 16 job cuts at Maverick Records over the last week, while Atlantic has also cut about 15 jobs. Orange County act Corporate Avenger is seeing controversy continue to escalate as the release of their album approaches next week. In addition to threats and angry correspondence, it now seems the liberal media won’t even stand behind the artists. MTV, Comedy Central and E! have all refused to air the Corporate Avenger TV spot in top markets such as Chicago and Phoenix due to the words “THE BIBLE IS BULL****” in succession.
