Alt-rock idols The Used have launched their latest single “Numb” pulled from their tenth forthcoming full-length, Toxic Positivity, set to drop May 19 via Big Noise. Leaning into their knack for honing in on the all-too-relatable, overpowering emotions associated with mental health struggles, The Used’s brand-new track explores the sensation of feeling like a ghost in your own skin when everything around you is too much and not enough all at once. This week I have drummer Dan Whitesides of the band The Used, we came up together in the Salt Lake City music scene together, he is someone I really looked up to when I was growing up, he was in multiple bands around the city and I hoped one day I’d get to match his abilities as a drummer. We catch up and talk about what it was like for Dan and how he got his start in music all the way to today.
