Horror Rock Fills 'Freddy Vs. Jason' Soundtrack


Two of the biggest slasher-film icons of the ’80s are finally set to meet, as the nightmare pairing of “Freddy Vs. Jason” hits U.S. theaters Aug. 15. Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland will star in the film, but the soundtrack to the flick, due Aug. 5 via Roadrunner, will be chock full of hard-edged rock. The disc is highlighted by an unreleased track from Slipknot and contributions from Sepultura, Chimaira, Stone Sour and Type O Negative. Newsted Energized for Ozzfest Double Duty


Double duty wasn’t necessarily what new Voivod member (and recently announced Ozzy Osbourne bassist) Jason Newsted had in mind when he left Metallica over two years ago, but that’s exactly what he’ll be doing this summer as Voivod and Ozzy play Ozzfest 2003. PressPlay in License Deals with 6 Record Labels


PressPlay, an online music venture between Universal Music and Sony Music, said on Thursday it signed licensing deals with six independent record labels that offer music by a wide variety of acts, from rappers 2 Live Crew to country singer Kenny Rogers to jazz legends Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday. PressPlay, set to launch its service to subscribers this fall, noted that its latest deals with Madacy, Navarre, OWIE, Razor & Tie, Roadrunner and Rounder will add music from hundreds of artists to its already large catalog of music for streaming and downloading. Biohazard Get Uncivilized


Members of Slipknot, Agnostic Front, Sepultura, Hatebreed, Skarhead and Pete Steele of Type O Negative, Sen-Dog of Cypress Hill, and Phillip Anselmo of Pantera are featured on Biohazard ‘s new album. The metal/hardcore/hip-hop group will release its sixth studio LP, the thirteen-track Uncivilization, September 11th on Sanctuary Records. The band’s lineup currently consists of guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, vocalist/bassist Evan Seinfeld, drummer Danny Schuler and guitarist Leo Curley.
