The Black Eyed Peas scored their first No. 1 album on the U.S. pop charts on Wednesday, buoyed by heavy promotion for its first release in four years. The Peas also claimed the top two spots on the singles chart. The hip-hop act topped the Billboard 200 with “The E.N.D.,” which sold 304,000 copies during the week ending June 14, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was the group’s best sales week ever. The Jonas Brothers Taylor Swift and Lionel Richie will ring in 2009 from Times Square on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” They will perform live during the ABC broadcast, joining Clark in New York along with his co-host Ryan Seacrest the network announced. Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Rihanna will perform at the fifth annual Fashion Rocks concert celebrating the relationship between music and fashion. The event will be held Sept. 5 at Radio City Music Hall, and will air in a two-hour special on CBS the following night. Proceeds will benefit Stand Up to Cancer, a program established by the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise money for cancer research.
