VH1 Edits Out Bizarre Mariah Clip


VH1 has removed a Mariah Carey-mocking segment of its My Music Awards rebroadcast. According to the network, the editing decision was made because of re-airing time constraints, but the show’s producer and the segment’s writer cite pressure from Carey’s representatives as the reason. VH1 Says It's Aired Unreleased Harrison Song


U.S. cable music channel VH1 says they had previously aired a George Harrison song that a British shop put on its Web site, believing it to be unreleased. A Beatles memorabilia shop in Liverpool, the birthplace of the world’s most famous band, said it believed “If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going” to be the last public recording by Harrison, who died of cancer last week aged 58. “We played the song in our George Harrison tribute stuff since he died. Brady to host VH1 kudocast


Comic performer Wayne Brady will host the DIY awards show “My VH1 Music Awards ’01,” which will be televised live Dec. 2 on VH1. VH1 instituted the annual interactive kudocast last year. It allows viewers to suggest categories, pick finalists and vote for winners up to the last minute. Mick Jagger, Creed, Sting, Nelly Furtado, Lenny Kravitz, Destiny’s Child and No Doubt are among the acts scheduled to perform at the Shrine Auditorium event. Brady stars in his own skit-and-improv series, “The Wayne Brady Show,” on ABC and also is a cast member on ABC’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

VH1 wants live Hollywood studio


VH1 is looking to create its own Los Angeles version of a live daytime video music studio along the lines of MTV’s “Total Request Live” studio in New York’s Times Square, sources said. According to sources, VH1 is in negotiations with the owners of the Hollywood & Highland complex, located at the intersection Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood.
