Woman Sues Gene Simmons Over VH1 Sex Talk

New York – A woman who says she is a former girlfriend of KISS rocker Gene Simmons is suing him for slander, saying the bass guitarist made her sound like a “sex-addicted nymphomaniac” during a “rockumentary” on VH-1 television. Georgeann Walsh Ward, 53, of Chester, N.Y., says in court papers that a photo of her appeared 11 times during the report on KISS, shown on the network several times in July and August, while Simmons claimed to have had sexual encounters with 4,600 women. Train Wrecks Galore At VH1 Big In '04 Awards

Los Angeles – Wednesday’s VH1 Big in ’04 awards show was a terrifying example of life imitating art, one that was dreadfully similar to “Saturday Night Live”‘s “Train Wreck Awards” skit from a few weeks ago. There was Anna Nicole Smith, just slightly more coherent than she was at the American Music Awards, threatening to flash the Shrine Auditorium audience after accepting the Big Makeover of ’04 award. There was ultimate odd couple, Flavor Flav and Brigitte Nielsen, fondling each other from the “beige carpet” to the stage, which they entered on a horse-drawn carriage. (They also tried to fondle… Read more »

VH1 Vogue Awards Fete Fashion Sense

Finally, an awards show where it’s all about the red carpet. At Tuesday’s VH1-Vogue Fashion Awards, actors, models and musicians-turned-designers were feted for their penchant for looking absolutely fabulous. “I think the most important thing about style is the smile you put on other people’s faces – or the look of absolute terror,” quipped Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler as he picked up the Rockstyle award. Platinum-blond rapper Eve was given the Breakthrough style award; she thanked her nail stylist, among many others. And singer-actress-turned-designer J.Lo, or Jennifer Lopez (news), was named the most influential star of the year. But anyone hoping… Read more »

VH1 Rocking with Revamp

Newly installed VH1 toppers Brian Graden and Christina Norman are moving quickly to put their stamp on the struggling music cable network, greenlighting an aggressive fall slate of series and specials aimed at building on the channel’s still-strong retro music brand. And rather than simply repurposing other networks’ music specials, Graden wants VH1 to sign A-level talent for original concert specials. The flurry of activity comes barely three months after Graden was named entertainment president of the… Read more »
