They survived an RV accident to release this album but it’s so solid it doesn’t need extra points for valiant effort. Look for more from Sweden’s Raised Fist. From The North is Epitaph Records’ first major contribution to Howl in 2015 and the band’s first release in over five years. Lord Dying returns to the featured playlist after “A Wound Outside Of Time” spent most of December 2014 among Howl’s top tracks. The colors were a bit faded, but the design of Lawrence Ori’s only tattoo was still visible. He couldn’t raise his arm proudly to show you anymore, but you could still see the Aerosmith logo there on his bicep.
It’s not just the tattoo. Aerosmith weaved its way through Ori’s life in both obvious and subtle ways. His license plate read “ROCKN” and his cell phone played the band’s classic “Dream On”.
The album that will put the new EMI under its greatest global scrutiny to date is also 2008’s most eagerly awaited release. That’s the official word from Coldplay’s new boss. The band’s “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends” will be released June 12 internationally on Parlophone/EMI and on June 17 in North America on Capitol. Linkin Park will play a benefit concert planned by Los Angeles-area teens for Los Angeles’s first pediatric hospice, to be held at the House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip on March 4. The “Young Angels Concert,” to benefit the city’s TrinityKids Care, is open only to students and their families, with tickets starting at $85. Admission includes a buffet dinner, while all proceeds will go to the hospice.
