You know when Oscars season hits and suddenly it’s the only thing anyone can talk about? That’s how we feel about the first Gibson Brands Alternative Press Music Awards – Fueled by Monster Energy Drink. With less than two weeks left until the awards show makes its July 21st debut, at Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we’ve all been picking our favorites and placing our bets—which is exactly what this show is all about.
Music videos are an interesting art form — they can be beautiful interpretations that reveal the inner meanings of the music, or they can make so little sense that they leave your brain feeling like scrambled eggs. Fall Out Boy got political at their Mesa, Arizona “Believers Never Die, Part Deux” tour opener Friday night, taking the stage in dress suits and black eyes – and in frontman Patrick Stump’s case, a grey Donald Trump-like wig – as a commentary on the current state of corporate America. Video screens framing Andy Hurley’s elevated drum kit aired footage of riot police and the conservatively dressed bandmembers walking through a backstage area. Fall Out Boy announced today that they believe they set the Guinness World Record for the Most Interviews On Radio In a 24 Hour Period By A Pair of Two (final certification to come from Guinness World Records after receiving documentation) with 72 radio interviews. Pete Wentz and Patrick Vaughn Stump took over the radio airwaves on Halloween, starting at 3:00am, at Premiere Studios in Los Angeles to set the new record. After having traveled more than 3,000 miles, spent nearly 100 hours trapped in their hotel rooms and survived roughly 76 borderline terrifying interactions with mobs of screaming fans to get to this very moment, the fate of Fall Out Boy’s record-setting trip to Antarctica came down to a very small number: one. Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz is opening a punk-themed unisex beauty parlor in Chicago, according to the New York Daily News. Wentz will call it The Clandestine Industries salon. Head stylist Ben Mollin from Bravo’s “Shear Genius” is already booking appointments, but the first snips won’t happen until the hair cuttery opens in April.
