Original Beatles digitally remastered, won't be on iTunes


LONDON —  The original Beatles catalog has been digitally remastered for the first time and will go on sale in CD format Sept. 9, the band’s record label and company announced Tuesday. The release will coincide with the launch of “The Beatles : Rock Band” video game, the British quartet’s first major leap into the world of digital music. U.S. cellphone users reportedly paying $3 per minute


The average cellphone customer pays more than $3 per minute, according to a report being issued this week by the  Utility Consumers’ Action Network, a San Diego consumer advocacy group. Coldplay responds to copyright lawsuit

Phish Lives On


Could the return of Phish spark a revitalization of the jam-band scene? After splitting in 2004 with a muddy sendoff at its Coventry, Vermont, festival, Phish will re-school in the spring for a three-night run at one of its favorite venues, the Hampton (Virginia) Coliseum. The prospect of the March 6-8 shows has been greeted with unbridled glee by loyal Phish-heads. Death Cab For Cutie, Sinatra lead U.S. album chart


Indie rock band Death Cab For Cutie claimed the No. 1 spot on the U.S. pop album charts for the first time in its decade-long career on Wednesday, while a hits package from Frank Sinatra opened at No. 2. “Narrow Stairs,” the band’s second album for Atlantic Records, sold 144,000 copies during the week ended May 18, according to Nielsen Soundscan. NASA launching Beatles tune into space


The Beatles are about to become radio stars in a whole new way. NASA on Monday will broadcast the Beatles’ song “Across the Universe” across the galaxy to Polaris, the North Star. This first-ever beaming of a radio song by the space agency directly into deep space is nostalgia-driven.
