Jackson Browne, Far from Running on Empty

Jackson Browne has spent a fair amount of the past several years trying to heed his own advice and take it easy. He’s still got a world of trouble on his mind, dismayed by the poverty and politics of the United States, concerned about his relationships with friends and family. But he is also full of enthusiasm for, among other things, the band he is on the road again with this summer and for Spain, a country he reckons has found the secret of life. This fall Browne will release his first album since 1996, titled “The Naked Ride Home.”… Read more »

Springsteen Rises to Top of U.S. Charts

Bruce Springsteen grabbed the top of the U.S. pop charts Wednesday with the debut of his somber, Sept. 11-influenced album, “The Rising,” the first all-new recording with his E Street Band since 1984. The critically hailed LP sold about 525,000 copies in its first week in stores, Springsteen’s best album debut in at least a decade, his publicists said as the veteran rocker and his band prepared to launch a world tour at the Continental Airlines Arena in his native New Jersey. Springsteen’s publicity firm, Shore Fire Media, said “The Rising,” released July 30, also was expected to open at… Read more »

Dave Grohl Says Nirvana Legal Battle Not Worth The Anguish

The Courtney Love vs. Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic case is on its way to court, and in late September the world should know more about the fate of unreleased Nirvana material. But Grohl is beginning to question whether all the legal mumbo jumbo is worth the hassle. In April the surviving members of Nirvana asked that Love be forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to test her sanity, and later in the month a judge denied the request, causing Grohl to bang his head against the wall as forcefully as he pummels his drum kit. “At the end of… Read more »

Garbage Drummer Vig Suffering From Ear Infection

Garbage drummer Butch Vig is suffering from an acute inner ear infection that has forced him to miss his band’s last few tour dates and possibly more. His condition makes him hypersensitive to sound and noise. Matt Chamberlain has been filling in for Vig, playing a pair of shows in Los Angeles over the weekend. Chamberlain is familiar with Garbage’s material. He filled in for Vig when the Garbage skin basher came down with Hepatitis A last November and also played on several tracks on the band’s latest album, Beautifulgarbage. There’s no word as to whether Vig will be healthy… Read more »

There’s no word on when he may return home. “I’m just so grateful that my injuries aren’t worse,” Mitchell said in a statement. “There will be a lot of rehabilitation and physical therapy,… Read more »

Snippets Of Nirvana Song At Center Of Lawsuit Appear Online

Portions of the last recorded Nirvana track surfaced online this week, bringing a new twist to the legal debate between Courtney Love and Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Live bootlegs of “You Know You’re Right” have circulated for years, but until now the studio version has gone mostly unheard. (Love spun the song at a London club in March and provided part of it to “Access Hollywood.”) Although she claims to possess more than 100 tapes of unheard material from the late Kurt Cobain, “You Know You’re Right” has been singled out as a huge potential hit by Love and… Read more »
