Garbage drummer Butch Vig is suffering from an acute inner ear infection that has forced him to miss his band’s last few tour dates and possibly more. His condition makes him hypersensitive to sound and noise. Matt Chamberlain has been filling in for Vig, playing a pair of shows in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Chamberlain is familiar with Garbage’s material. He filled in for Vig when the Garbage skin basher came down with Hepatitis A last November and also played on several tracks on the band’s latest album, Beautifulgarbage.
There’s no word as to whether Vig will be healthy enough to play dates in Mexico, Spain, and Italy later this month.
