While most acts go on the road in support of new albums, several Def Jam Records artists will launch a tour next month behind the release of a new video game. Due to popular demand, international superstars Bon Jovi have added more dates to their current sold-out tour in support of their acclaimed CD Bounce (Island Records). This summer, the band returns from their European stadium tour to play arenas, ampitheatres and stadiums (in Philadelphia, Detroit and Boston), returning to many markets where they have already played to capacity-filled crowds. It’s been well over a year since Dr. Dre first announced that a reunited N.W.A., with Snoop Dogg subbing for the late Eazy-E, had begun work on their first album in ten years, Not These Niggaz Again. “Alive,” the first single/video from Atlantic recording group P.O.D.’s upcoming new album, “SATELLITE,” rocketed into the No.1 position on today’s installment of MTV’s Total Request Live. Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean has extended his time in rehabilitation for two weeks, forcing the teen-pop phenomena to postpone their North American tour for a second time, the group’s members said on Tuesday. McLean, 23, is in a 30-day treatment program for alcoholism, depression and other problems, and the group was set to return to the road next Tuesday. After months of negotiations, Alanis Morissette has signed a new contract with Maverick Records and will release her third album on the label in October. The follow-up to 1998’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was originally slated to hit stores on June 12th, but the lengthy contract talks delayed the release. After collaborating on her previous two albums with Glen Ballard, Morissette wrote, produced and arranged the album herself. “I always want to stretch and scare myself,” she told Rolling Stone earlier this year. Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros will launch a U.S. tour in October behind their second album, Global a Go-Go, which arrives in record stores on July 24th.
